At Risk Youth Learn Organic Farming (2006-current)
Ananda Foundation is partnering with Grace Tabernacle Church and Maysie's Farm Conservation Center to help youth from Pennsylvania learn organic farming and crop cultivation. They are currently growing tomatoes, squash, lettuce, beans. The first planting began in the summer of 2006 which consisted of 10 beds of plantings. During the fall the crop yield was fruitful and the produce was shared a local subsidize daycare, senior citizen center, families in our low income community, YMCA and the families of Grace Tabernacle. In 2007 another 20 beds were added.
In Feburary 2009, 15 adults and young adolescents had the opportunity to attend the PASA Farming for the Future Conference on sustainable agriculture along with the director of Masie's Farm. Maysie's Farm, a nonprofit based in Pennsylvania is dedicated to teaching the next generation of young people techniques of sustainable agriculture and organic farming.
