Though we are non-sectarian and value global beliefs and cultures,
we chose a symbol from the East for our logo. Asia is known
for its reverence towards the lotus flower. The lotus is often
used as a metaphor for beauty that can be found amidst dirty
waters. Though the environment in which you find poverty may
often be unclean, there are beautiful souls that thrive among
these conditions. The lotus represents this inner beauty.
We feel that the lotus symbolizes
hope. People who live in poverty not only deserve a chance, but have a right to a life of opportunity.
With nutrients the lotus can blossom. The same
can be said for people. With tools for
personal and professional development, access to health care,
and education individuals can blossom and a
better society can be cultivated.
